PowerStation Traveller Delivers Highway & Home Office Detente
Product Review, The Road Warrior September 6th, 2008Bill Cosby once said, “Parents don’t want justice. Parents want quiet.“
Nowhere is this more true than in the family sedan driving down the highway on a road trip. With the home or home office far behind, adults find themselves locked in the tin box with kids clamoring for their mobile devices. Meanwhile, parents find their own wireless phone, iPod or MP3 player, or GPS device competing for power with the kids DVD player or powerable game consoles.
So many plugs, so few ports. Most cars have only one cigarette lighter / power port (vans and SUVs might have several more). And splitters and adapters are so cumbersome.
So if you need to charge the phone, and the kids want to watch a flick, to achieve détente, you appease.
ReSource has come out with a great way to silence the hordes by providing cheap power to all: The PowerStation Traveller.
From around $33 at most online retailers, this carry case measures 11″ wide by 7.5″ high by 4″ deep, and has space for three mobile devices within a zippered enclosure.
Here’s how it works: Inside the zippered case is a platform with four adjustable, locking sliders. Lay your device atop the platform, and adjust the sliders into place. Then, slip the DC adapters into the back, and plug them into the DC power strip (remember: everything is designed for DC / auto power ports, not traditional AC electrical plugs or jacks. This can be a minus, as not all devices come with DC plugs. An AC/DC power adapter [sold separately] allows you to charge devices with any traditional wall outlet).
An interior sleeve can hold papers, accessories or documents. Choose to carry the Traveller with the handle, or a detachable strap that adjusts to sling the Traveller over your shoulder or secure it to the seat. Made from luggage-quality material and interior foam padding, the Traveller protects devices in the car or while out and about.
What’s cool is the overall efficiency the Traveller can bring to the road warrior. Keep your mobile adapters tucked away in the zippered case and never go looking for them around the home or home office again.
Just wondering: With the adapters and devices close at hand, any way to lose the kids…?
